We want any RR Donnelley employee who has a concern, complaint, question, or difference of opinion to have it addressed as quickly and as fairly as possible. Be assured that you will never be retaliated against or punished in any way for reporting your concerns in good faith.
The Open Door has a long history
RR Donnelley is proud that it was one of the first companies in the United States to establish the Open Door. RRD's open door policy goes back to 1919 when TE Donnelley and Reuben Donnelley signed what was then referred to as a “Creed” which included the following statement.
“….we the officers of the Press, declare that we are at all times ready and willing to hear personally the complaint of any employee of unsatisfactory conditions or apparent injustice and also suggestions toward improved factory conditions, and pledge ourselves to give such complaints and suggestions our careful and honest consideration. It has always been the aim of the officers of R.R. Donnelley & Sons Company to act honestly and fairly with both the firm's employees and its customers.”
Our ability to respond quickly and effectively to any employee concern keeps us an effective team, and in turn, helps us maintain our leadership position in the printing industry.
How does the Open Door work?
Although you may raise a concern to ANY member of management at any time, the following process is the fastest and, most times, the best way to resolve problems:
• First speak with your supervisor.
• If the issue cannot be resolved, then raise the issue to the department manager or site leader.
• If you are not satisfied with the response from local management, you may appeal the decision to your local human resources department.
• If you are not satisfied with that decision, you may appeal to your business unit's human resources department.
If you are not satisfied with this decision, you may appeal to corporate employee relations for a final review.
On especially sensitive issues that you believe may involve local management, you may contact:
• your business unit's headquarters
• Corporate Employee Relations
• the "Ethics Hotline" at 1-800-261-4921 or click on this page to submit a new report.
When to use the Ethics Hotline
We expect all employees to operate with the highest degree of integrity and hope violations will not happen. These expectations are described in the Principles of Ethical Business Conduct below.
Examples of when to call the Ethics Hotline or submit a report below include concerns you are unable to resolve locally: discrimination, harassment, unauthorized sharing of confidential company or customer information, safety issues, alcohol or drug abuse, environmental issues or any other serious concern.
Do you have questions, comments or suggestions about normal operating procedures or making your workplace more efficient? Speak directly to your supervisor or manager. If you need other information, such as Benefits assistance, IT support, etc. please see your Human Resources representative for the appropriate contact.
